Way back in January of 2005, I had the life-changing experience of attending the Winter Writer’s Getaway, then in Cape May, NJ, for the first time. While I was there, I wrote poems from fabulously inspiring prompts by Peter Murphy, studied with one of my absolute favorite poets, Stephen Dunn, and made many new friends including the wonderful man who is now my husband and partner in all things poetry, Daniel Simpson. That was thirteen years ago, when Murphy Writing of Stockton University
was a mere twelve years old. It is now celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary(!) with the annual Getaway, now in Galloway, NJ, and the publication of a new book. More Challenges for the Delusional features Peter’s prompts, together with an anthology of prose and poetry by Kim Addonizio, Dorianne Laux, Tony Hoagland, and Stephen Dunn, and many others. Dan and I had the honor of editing the book together, and thanks to Diode Editions, it is now available. I can’t say I’m objective, but I do love this book and I recommend it to anyone who loves to write.
My husband, Daniel Simpson
and I had the honor of being interviewed by the amazing Beth Kephart for Juncture Notes, her lovely monthly reflection on writing and reading memoir (and memoiristic poetry.)
I had a great conversation with Joan Buckley on her WHPC radio show, Your Family’s Health.
